Why lift cables fail early in Cleveland garages

Cuyahoga County salts hard and salts often. That brine rides in on tires. It drips off the rear quarter panels overnight. The puddle sits where the cable meets the bottom bracket. Corrosion there is chemical, not mechanical. It eats the outer strands first, then the core. A cable can look fine at eye level and be half gone at the shoe.
